Conference Support Bursary

Would you like to:

  • attend a conference that will extend your drama subject knowledge?
  • present a paper at a Drama conference?
  • attend an international or national conference to represent National Drama?

National Drama offers up to £500 to support conference/transport/accommodation fees, allowing members to attend conferences to widen thinking and be an active part of Drama and Performing Arts communities. 

Conference attendance is open to ALL our members. This includes undergraduates; early careers or long established teachers; MA or PhD students; Primary or SEND teachers who wish to use drama across the curriculum; Secondary teachers who want to extend their students’ examination experiences; a Youth Theatre director initiative or a community practitioner with an interest in theatre, drama or social justice.

UK based:

(National Drama will offer separate sponsorship opportunities for our own ND Conferences). 

International:

Bursary applications open on the 1st February and close on the 31st May. 

How to Apply

Complete the ND Bursaries application form stating why and how this bursary will help and support your professional development. Tell us a little about yourself and your work. Be clear on which conference you wish to attend and why, with a breakdown of costs.

Note that as funding is decided in June of each year, it may be that you buy an early-bird ticket and apply to ND for a potential refund of costs. 

Terms 

  • You need to be a member of National Drama.
  • Your conference must be completed within a two-year framework.
  • Upon completion of your attendance/presentation at the conference we require an article, with photographs if relevant, communicating your work and experience with members through our Research Journal and/or our magazine and/or our website. If approved by the Editorial Board, you will see your name in print!
  • Some information will be required for our marketing team which we can post on social media.
  • The bursary will be paid on completion of the conference and upon submission of receipts.

We would also like to promote your work further by inviting you to contribute to a live or Zoom event to celebrate your achievement.
