Teach Meet: Key Stage 3 Drama Assessment (Danielle Mackenzie)(London Drama in partnership with National Drama)

This event will share initial findings from a research project that reflect challenges to good assessment.

On Thursday 2nd March 6-7pm on Zoom we will be joined by Danielle Mackenzie who says: ‘Drama has been slipping out of our schools for many years now and this event will give you the opportunity to share your experiences and voice your own opinions on how assessment policies in schools are influencing teaching and learning in Drama and the affect this is having on the value of the subject.

About the session

This event will share initial findings from the speakers’ research project that reflect challenges to good assessment. It will also provide a space for Drama teachers to share their own practices and discuss how to overcome barriers in the school system.

About the session leader

Danielle Mackenzie is presently a PHD Drama student at QMUL running the research project Keeping Drama Centre Stage: an exploration of how the subject is valued in English schools. It explores how the subject of Drama has reached a critical point in the National Curriculum at KS3 and uses the role of school assessment to demonstrate how Drama is both perceived and valued. Danielle was previously a Head of Drama in state schools for 15 years and have published the practical Drama resource book Order in the Chaos.
