These sessions are written for colleagues working in settings for children and young people with complex needs, They can be adapted for any specialist setting.

• Offer numerous choices in as many ways as possible throughout the sessions.
• When working with sensory activities always use hand under hand to support student curiosity.
• Use Makaton sparingly.
• Be bold about how these sessions can support learning objectives across curriculum areas.
• Share what you’re doing with your colleagues however you can to inspire them.
